That’s right folks Drauger OS 7.5.1 Zombi is finally on Alpha 2! After more than 2 months of work on our dedicated system-installer, it has finally come out on top in our little internal contest between Ubiquity, Calamares, and our dedicated installer.
We still have more work to do though. We plan to bring more multi-threaded code to our system installer, as well as more features such as a “quick-install” configuration file you can point system-installer to in order to have it install Drauger OS immediately and efficiently. Both of these, along with some GUI improvements both in system-installer and potentially elsewhere in Drauger OS are part of the road map toward Drauger OS 7.5.1 Alpha 3.
As part of getting system-installer working, Drauger OS 7.5.1 will move to using systemd-boot as it’s boot loader on UEFI installations. It will continue using GRUB on BIOS installations. This change, while reducing some of the configurability the user has, makes installing Drauger OS much easier, while also potentially speeding up boot times.
We hope to have more good news in the coming weeks as we progress to Drauger OS 7.5.1 Alpha 3!
Sincerely,
