Progress Report

Happy Monday to everyone! We have several things to talk about this week, so here we go!

First up, after rebasing the Drauger OS 7.5.1 alpha to Ubuntu 19.10 beta, we retested the Calamares installer. It didn’t really help. It doesn’t freeze up nearly as much, but we still cannot get a complete installation. We let the developers know and are waiting to hear back.

We are still working on mrai. It has taken longer than expected to get the conversion to C++ completed. But we are making significant progress and are throwing in some new optimizations and bug fixes along the way.

Due to the rebase to Ubuntu 19.10, the Drauger OS 7.5.1 ISO has grown from 1.5 GB to 1.7 GB. So it is no longer half the size of Drauger OS 7.4.1, but is still close.

Other than all this, we have an important podcast episode this week, where we talk about and respond to the new kernel lock-down feature. So, check out our next podcast episode this Wednesday to hear what we think of it and how we plan to approach it.

Sincerely,

Thomas Castleman
